How Can I Help?
How can I Help as a Parent?
Get involved! While the parent-child relationship is important to the development and future of every child, it is even more crucial in the life of a child with special learning needs. These children need to know that it is okay to be different and that they are loved just the same as anyone else. They need and appreciate your involvement in their school because this is where they often find their best friends and where they feel safe.
That is where the Home-School Association comes into play. This parent-teacher organization is dedicated to planning and supporting activities for both children and parents. The Association organizes two Scholastic Book Fairs each school year. Offering age-appropriate and recommended literature, these fairs benefit the students as well as the new Library/Media Center. The Home-School Association also hosts Family Fun Nights such as a Pizza-and-a-Movie night and the ever popular Spring Cookout. These special nights allow the families to have fun together with the families of other students and friends.
So the answer to how you can help as a Calais parent is simple…just get involved ! Beginning is easy, just call Jennifer Tedeschi at 973-884-2030, ext.251 or by email at jennifer.tedeschi@thecalaisschool.org

How can I Help as a Graduate or Alumni?
First of all, stay in touch, you are always welcome back for a visit. Keep us posted with your latest address, phone number and e-mail address. Let us know how and what you are doing. Pictures are always welcome too!
How can you help? Get involved, volunteer with the Home-School Association, serve as a mentor to a student, and share your story and experiences. There is nothing quite like the example you can set for or the hope you can give to other students here at the School. Be a volunteer at the Renaissance Gala or SummerFest, our new family-oriented event to kick off the summer.
We’re sure other alumni would like to see you again too so participate in the Spring Alumni Gathering. It is always a joy to see so many former students, some even bring their parents. Many now have families of their own and are doing well in a variety of wonderful careers. We are proud of all of you! So no matter what you do, even if you are temporarily out of work, come join in and see if any of your old friends show up. If they don’t, make some new friends and you will find you have some stories in common.
So you get the picture! Don’t just sit there reading this. Do something and make a difference today! Its simple, just get involved! Beginning is easy, just call Jennifer Tedeschi at 973-884-2030, ext. 251 or by email at jennifer.tedeschi@thecalaisschool.org
