Extended School Year ProgramThe Extended School Year Program, a special program for special kids, provides both The Extended School Year Program runs for 6 weeks beginning in the first week of July (closed July 4th.) It is open to all students enrolled at The Calais School as well as students from other programs through an interview process. Participation requires approval by the sending school district’s Child Study Team. Program activities including snacks, field trips, and in-house presentations are free of cost to students. Each class is taught by a certified Teacher of Students with Disabilities and an Assistant Teacher. Additional support is provided as required, and includes counselors, as well as the School Nurse. Students requiring Occupational Therapy are scheduled with a coordinating therapist. Learning the Basics: Basic Learning, Fun and Socialization: Group activities such as bowling, movies, skating, and in-school educational presentations provide each student with wonderful and exciting opportunities to explore, develop and try out their socialization skills in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
