Admissions
The Calais School uses a team approach to find an appropriate educational match for students with special needs. The Admissions Team consists of the Principal, Assistant Principal, Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultants, and Psychological Therapists. Child Study Team members and/or parents are always welcome to call Dr. Diane Manno, Assistant Principal for more information about the school or its programs (973-884-2030, ext. 255). You may also send an email using the form at the bottom of this page.
The admissions process includes:
1. The students' records are sent for review by the Child Study Team Case Manager to Diane Manno, LCSW, EdD, Assistant Principal.
2. The student records are reviewed by the Admissions Team. Once the review process is completed and The Calais School believes it will be able to meet the individual needs of the student, the Case Manager on the Child Study Team is notified.
3. An interview is set up with the Child Study Team, parents, and student. A complete description of the educational program and tour of the school is provided.
Upon acceptance and prior to admission to The Calais School, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting is held at The Calais School. The parents and students are able to meet with the teachers and therapists in order to provide a smooth transition for the student.
